Will AI Take Your Job?

Thoughts on AI from Nvidia CEO

Everyone talks about AI, but no one has the time to learn it. So, we found the easiest way to learn AI in as little time as possible: The Rundown AI.

Hey GM!

Most of it was dense academic jargon, but buried in there was this gem from Nvidia's CEO that stopped me cold.

Jensen Huang basically said what we're all thinking but were afraid to admit:

All of you have heard a lot about [AI] job displacement. Every job will be affected. Some jobs will be lost, some jobs will be created, but every job will be affected.

And immediately it is unquestionable, you're not going to lose a job – your job to an AI, but you're going to lose your job to somebody who uses AI… …But let me give you the two extremes that you might want to consider as well. Computer technology, computer science has benefited about 30 million people. There are about 30 million people in the world who know how to program and use this technology to its extreme… …The other eight, seven and a half billion people don't. I'll put on the table that, in fact, artificial intelligence is the greatest opportunity for us to close the technology divide. And let me prove it to you. You know, if we just look in this room, it's very unlikely that more than a handful of people know how to program with C++, and an equal number know how to program in C.

And yet, 100 percent of you know how to program in AI. And the reason for that is because the AI will speak whatever language you wanted to speak… …The number of people who are using ChatGPT and Gemini Pro and these AIs kind of demonstrate that, in fact, this is one of the easiest to use technologies in history… …The other extreme that I will say is that, remember, we’re – we have a shortage of labor.

We have a shortage of workers. We don't have an abundance of workers. We have a shortage of and for the very first time in history, we actually have – we can imagine the opportunity to close that gap to put 30-40 million workers back into the workforce that otherwise the world doesn't have.

And so you could argue that artificial intelligence is probably our best way to increase the GDP, the global GDP, and so those are two other ways to look at it. In the meantime, I would recommend 100% of everybody you know take advantage of AI and don't be that person who ignores this technology

The Reality Check

Here's the deal: every single job will be affected by AI.

Not some jobs, not most jobs. Every job.

But before you panic, Huang made it crystal clear: "You're not going to lose your job to an AI, but you're going to lose your job to somebody who uses AI."

That's the game right there.

The person sitting next to you who's already using ChatGPT to draft emails, analyze data, and brainstorm solutions?

They're getting ahead while others are still debating whether AI is "just a fad."

The Massive Opportunity Hidden in Plain Sight

Here's what blew my mind: Only about 30 million people worldwide know how to code in traditional languages like C++ or Python. That's less than 1% of the global population.

But guess what? 100% of knowledge workers can already "program" in AI simply by talking to it in plain English.

Think about it. When you use ChatGPT or Claude, you're literally programming a computer to do complex tasks just by having a conversation.

Why This Changes Everything

We're facing a global labor shortage, not surplus.

Huang pointed out that AI could put 30-40 million workers back into the workforce by closing the technology divide.

For the first time in history, you don't need years of coding bootcamps to leverage powerful technology.

This means:

  • Geographic barriers are dissolving

  • Traditional tech gatekeepers are losing their monopoly

  • Anyone with curiosity and hustle can build AI-powered solutions

Your Move: Don't Be That Person

Huang's advice was brutally simple: "Take advantage of AI and don't be that person who ignores this technology."

Start today with these moves:

Experiment Daily: Use AI tools in your current job. Draft that report with ChatGPT, analyze spreadsheets with Claude, or brainstorm with Gemini. Make it reflexive.

Think AI-First: Before tackling any task, ask yourself: "How could AI make this faster, better, or more insightful?"

Build Your Portfolio: Create small projects that showcase your AI integration skills. A simple automation that saves your team 2 hours a week is worth more than a perfect resume.

Stay Curious: Follow AI developments, but focus on practical applications over theoretical discussions.

The Bottom Line

The companies winning right now aren't just using AI. They're making "reflexive AI usage a baseline expectation" (looking at you, Shopify and Duolingo).

They're not asking if employees should use AI, but how effectively they're using it.

The divide isn't between humans and AI.

It's between people who embrace AI as a thinking partner and those who see it as a threat.

Which side of that divide do you want to be on?
